Relieve Pain & Itching With Pramoxine Hydrochloride

Pramoxine hydrochloride is used in the temporary treatment of itching and pain caused by minor skin irritation like burns, cuts, scrapes, eczema, insect bites, rashes from poison ivy or poison oak. In fact, products that contain pramoxine also relieve itching and pain of genital and anal areas such as itching in vagina, rectum, anal fissures and hemorrhoids.

How does it work?
Pramoxine hcl belongs to a class of medications called topical anaesthetics. It works by putting a stop on nerves from sending pain signals. It numbs the skin and block the feeling of pain and itching.
How to use it?
Follow the instructions on the product package if you are self-treating. If it is prescribed to you, do as your doctor advises. Do not apply this medicine to severely broken skin such as serious burns, deep cuts and open wounds.
Clean and dry the affected area. Shake the container well if you are using a lotion or foam product. For skin conditions, apply 3-4 times daily or as directed by your doctor. For anal conditions, apply after every bowel movement or 4-5 times a day. Never use this medication inside the rectum. Always wash your hands after you use pramoxine.
What are the Pramoxine HCL side effects?
Many people who use this medication do not experience side effects. It is rarely reported.
A mild burning or stinging may be experienced. Consult your doctor if these conditions persist or worsen.
A little dryness can be seen.
Seek immediate medical intervention if you notice symptoms such as severe dizziness, trouble in breathing, difficulty in swallowing, rash, and extreme itching.

Before using pramoxine, tell your doctor if you have any allergies.
Let your doctor know if you have any medical history of any disease.
Tell your doctor if you are taking any prescription or non-prescription medicines such as vitamin supplements or herbs.

Storage and disposal
Keep this medicine out of reach of children in a tightly closed container. Always store at a room temperature and away from the sunlight and moisture. If the medication is no longer needed, throw it away.
Keep in mind
Pramoxine hcl is for external use only. If accidentally gets into your eyes, nose or mouth, immediately rinse with cool water.
If symptoms do not get better in a week, speak with your doctor.
Do not use the medication longer than prescribed.
Do not use this medication on children below 2 years of age.
